Review: Fairfield by Marriott Kuala Lumpur Jalan Pahang

KL's 15th hotel in the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio is the 186-room Fairfield by Marriott KL Jalan Pahang which opened in December 2021. It is Malaysia's second Fairfield property, and comes after the Fairfield by Marriott Bintulu Paragon in Sarawak, which had opened two years earlier.

Nearby the hotel is the Chow Kit station of the KL Monorail (a 5-minute walk) and Sunway Putra Mall (12-minute walk). This hotel is among the cheapest of Marriott properties in KL, and redemption nights can be booked for just 6,000 to 10,500 points per night

There are 14 stories in total, with guest rooms in floors 3 to 13, and a Surau for Muslim prayers on the top floor.

A standard room is 19 sqm in size, while deluxe rooms are about double at 38 sqm. Rooms come with 55-inch LED TVs.

The bathroom is enclosed by retractable doors, so the sink opens up to the room when open.

Although the hotel was located on a busy road, I did not find much noise at night. The higher floors are definitely better for quietness.

Breakfast is offered buffet-style at Lesung on the second floor, which offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant staff were attentive and I appreciated their eagerness to recommend me breakfast dishes.

The hotel gym on the first floor is open 24 hours a day and seemed largely unoccupied during my stay.

A 16-seat boardroom is available and it has a lounge area outside.

While the standard rooms are small and there is no lounge, the Fairfield by Marriott KL is new, value-for-money, and offers a great breakfast. It's a good option for mattress runs especially with Marriott's global promotions.
