The Berlin Marriott Hotel is a modern and comfortable hotel with convenient public transport access. Located near Potsdamer Platz station, the hotel is served by Regional, S-Bahn and U-Bahn train services in the German capital. It is also a 10-minute walk from the Brandenburg Gate and a short distance from the Mall of Berlin. Other major hotels like the Ritz Carlton and Grand Hyatt are also in the same Potsdamer Platz area.

The 379-room Berlin Marriott Hotel at Potsdamer Platz |
Originally opened in 2004 and having been refurbished in 2013 and 2020, the modern hotel has 379 rooms across 10 floors. Three in-house dining options are available, namely the all-day restaurant Midtown Grill, The Big Dog, and the Lobby Lounge.
Check-in
Passing through the large revolving doors leads guests to the check-in desks and concierge. The hotel has a central atrium overlooked by all 10 floors. It houses the Lobby Lounge which gives it a lively but not chaotic atmosphere in the evenings. |

The room was ready when I arrived at around 10 am. Platinum elite members are invited to choose between a $10 F&B voucher and 1,000 points. Breakfast in the main restaurant is not available as a welcome benefit.
Four elevators, operated by a keycard, serve the hotel's 10 floors. A separate, single elevator serves the pool and gym in the basement.

I stayed at a Panoramic Executive Room which features a city view and lounge access. All rooms include minibars, coffee makers and hairdryers as standard features. Amenities like in-room slippers had to be requested.

USB sockets made charging convenient, and the air-conditioning controls were easy to use. Unfortunately, the 55-inch TV did not allow casting. Upon checking with hotel staff, I learnt that this function was not available, which was slightly disappointing for a hotel with a recent refurbishment.

The executive lounge is located on the top floor of the hotel (level 10) and offers a panoramic view of the surrounding area. The staff at the lounge are attentive and polite.

The breakfast spread is obviously smaller than what is available at Midtown Grill (which would cost 36 Euros per person) but is decent with some hot and cold selection, although the items seem to be the same every day.
|
Breakfast at the executive lounge |
A small selection of hot and cold food is also available from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, with a varied selection on different days.

Impression
The hotel benefits from well refurbished rooms although more smart features like would be appreciated in 2024. The lounge is decent with reliable service while the fitness centre is well-equipped. Its convenient location near the train station offering connections to Regional, S and U lines is a good plus point.
A close alternative is the JW Marriott Berlin, which is a conversion from Hotel Berlin Central District that is due to complete renovations in 2025. The JW Marriott is a larger hotel with eight dining venues and 505 rooms, all of which are due to be fully renovated. Until then, it remains to be seen whether the JW or Marriott will be preferable.
